DARLINGTON HOME UPGRADED WITH WINDOWS AS PART OF MAJOR RENOVATION

Abbey Road is part of the West End Conservation Area in Darlington and it is here that a historic 1930s home has been upgraded with traditional-style windows by National Window Systems.

Cedar Building, a building contractor based in Yarm, approached Darlington-based window company National Window Systems to supply replacement PVC-u windows in a traditional mock sash style to the house, which it is completely renovating and extending.

The company had worked with National Window Systems on many projects over the past nine years and was aware of the quality of their products and the company’s commitment to customer service.

The homeowners had very specific requirements for the windows: they were looking to replicate the sash windows that are popular in the area because of their traditional, classic appearance.  They also wanted the windows to be triple glazed, to help reduce their energy bills.  National Window Systems recommended mock sash PVC-u windows in white, which

would complement the street scene and provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the home.

The renovations also included adding a double lantern roof as part of a two storey extension, with the system supplied by National Window Systems.  The double lantern roof is installed above a kitchen/dining area to maximise the level of natural light in the extension.

In addition, National Window Systems supplied two sets of French doors in white and a glazed entrance door to the utility room.

Steve Bell said: “The house is in a conservation area, so it was really important that the window frames enhanced the aesthetics of the home and complemented the local street scene.  Choosing the right windows is essential to achieving the right aesthetic and we were delighted to be able to meet the homeowners specific requirements for the windows and doors on this project.”

Kieran McMurray, Director of Cedar Building said: “This was a major renovation, both externally and internally and the windows were a really important part of this.  Having worked with them before, I knew that National Window Systems would be able to supply the windows and French doors to meet the homeowners’ exact requirements and they are delighted with the result.”

He added; “We liked the fact that we could source everything from National Window Systems. That made the supply and installation process easier for us and ensured consistent quality and perfect colour matching for the homeowner.”

National Window Systems has 28 years’ experience in supplying and installing high quality windows, doors and conservatories. Its complete one-stop solution includes carrying out a double survey, at the initial meeting and then by its installation manager just prior to fitting. This ensures that the products are specified correctly and that installation will run as smoothly as possible.
