A Victorian Terrace in Middleton-in-Teesdale has been restored to its former glory thanks to UPVC box sash windows from Darlington-based National Windows Systems.

Mrs Walkden chose National Window Systems to provide a style of windows that was sympathetic to her period property located in the small market town of Middleton-in-Teesdale.

“We bought the property approximately two years ago and we’ve been renovating it ever since. It needed a full refurbishment, from top to bottom, but I wanted to keep all the original features to keep the period look. Along with the original ceiling roses, cornicing and banisters, I felt that Victorian style sash windows would add to the overall aesthetics of the property,” said Mrs Walkden.

“The house is in a conservation area, so I needed help choosing the right frames. I knew I wanted the traditional sash windows, but I also wanted UPVC because of its low maintenance properties. I’ve bought from National Window Systems many times over the years, so I contacted the company and spoke to Steve, the Managing Director, who was, as usual, extremely helpful. Steve recommended UPVC box sash windows as planners had previously approved them in this area,” continued Mrs Walkden.

Mrs Walkden said: “I looked at a couple of samples and knew that they were the right windows for us, especially as they were within our budget. They look just like timber sash windows as they have a lot of the original features, including the decorative horns. I decided to have white frames as, traditionally sashes were always white, and they complement the rest of the street.

“I’m so pleased with the finished results. National Window Systems has done a fabulous job and I think my windows add the final finishing touches to my Victorian home. The fact that they’re made out of low maintenance UPVC is an absolute bonus!,” said Mrs Walkden.

Mrs Walkden continued: “I’ve recommended National Window Systems to a number of my friends and family and        they’ve all used the company too. Steve is very professional – he takes the time to understand what you’re looking for and he will do everything he can to make sure he can find the right window for you. The fitters also do a brilliant job and they always leave your property clean and tidy.”

Steve Bell, Managing Director of National Window Systems said: “Middleton-in-Teesdale is a lovely part of the country and we can appreciate why homeowners, and planners, want to protect and restore original features wherever possible. We also understand that people want the convenience of UPVC because it’s low maintenance and energy efficient.”

Steve continued: “Here at National Window Systems we manufacture a wide range of windows and we can offer our customer the best of both worlds – windows that are easy to maintain but that also enhance the aesthetics of the property.”
